The first time I decided to start growing out my mullet was when I started working as a mortuary removal technician in 2020 during peak covid times, a job that involved going to hospitals, homes and retirement facilities and taking the decedents to wherever they needed to go, I guess you could call me the Beastie Boys because I was “Body Movin”. But the job itself wasn’t what caused my hair transformation, it was mostly to add a bit more character to myself while I was on the job, I found having a more unique style within the confines of the dress code (a full suit no matter the temperature); Made the families seem more at ease, and helped to humanize my role in the process, families would start talking about my hair and that seemed to help a lot of the families to have a jumping off point for the conversations until the inevitable “what happens next?” I became less of a person there to do a job and more of an individual trying to help how I could.
