Andrew Hooley – The Kalamazoo ShoLo

Kalamazoo, MI

I lost a bet in a putting contest in August of 2020 where I had to start a mullet and dye my hair gray. As a man of my word, I went and got it cut/shaped into a mullet. However, I was under the false impression that it would be easy to color my own hair, so naturally, and with little foresight, I went to the closet Walmart, bought a “diy” hair coloring box off the shelf, and soon after had a gray mullet. Fast forward a week, and my hair is no longer gray; instead, it looked like I tripped head first into a box of yellow highlighters. Actually, that’s the nice way of putting it. It looked like I belonged in a 1990’s boy band mashed up country version, only bleached blonde. Fast-forward to present day and I’m now on the cusp of 40, balding on the crown of my head, and enjoying the occasional gray hairs that are popping in. Let’s be honest, a balding gray mullet would be pretty sweet. My hair is naturally curly, so no perm on this guy. I’m honestly a better person every single day because of my wife and diaper blaster kiddos, so it’s only through her good graces that I’m allowed to keep rocking the flow!
