Hunter Vaccaro – Hot Steel

Long Island, NY

My name is Hunter, and my mullet is known as “Hot Steel.” I’ve been sporting a mullet for the last 18 months. Playing baseball, football, and hockey, I look good with Hot Steel flowing, especially as it glistens in the sun, peaking perfectly from my cap or bandana, gracing my shoulders with a hint of badass. If “Hot Steel” had an expression, it would be the smirk emoji.

I grew a mullet because I saw other kids starting to have them on YouTube and at school. My parents encouraged me to grow it, and with their help, we’ve added some style with curls, a fohawk, and those fire lines etched on the side of my head by my barber. Speaking of my barber, “Hot Steel” deserves the best, and we’re on our fourth since going down this path of legacy locks building.

When my Dad told me about this mullet competition, I didn’t embrace the challenge right away. He sold me when he said if I win, he’ll help me build my own merch brand. So I asked him if all I have to do is take some photos, write a story, post it online, and have people vote, and then he’ll help me make a logo, shirts, hats, kids' tattoos, bobbleheads, etc. The glimmer in both of our eyes said it all. At that same time, my Mom rolled her eyes, but Dad and I were off and running.

You’re probably wondering what “Hot Steel” means. I play for Team Steel Travel baseball, and this mullet is hot, so bam, that’s it … took me about 10 seconds to come up with it, and I think we have something here.

Hot Steel is an attitude. It’s a sign of hope. It’s the hair you always wanted but never rocked like I can. It’s a brand. It’s the future, and it’s now. Vote for me and “Hot Steel,” and let’s make this happen.
